Subsequent week, two deep-space probes will make flybys of Venus inside 30 hours of one another on their solution to the inside reaches of the photo voltaic system. On August 9, the Photo voltaic Orbiter will cross by the planet usually known as “Earth’s twin”, adopted by the BepiColombo Mercury orbiter on August 10.
Although it looks like it’s all downhill, sending spacecraft to Mercury and Venus is simply as vitality consuming, if no more, as going to Mars and past. It is because, whereas journeys to the outer photo voltaic system requires gaining velocity, going to the inside photo voltaic system means shedding velocity. Which means that a spacecraft heading nearer to the Solar should both use huge rockets or discover another means of braking.
