To the Editor;
August 6 and 9 mark 76 years since nuclear weapons had been used towards the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing lots of of 1000’s of individuals. Within the spirit of honoring the victims of this bomb, the phrases “by no means once more” should be repeated.
The U.S., amongst different nuclear nations, continues to spend a great deal of cash creating nuclear weapons. These funds may be higher spent to satisfy the human wants of individuals.
There are some small indicators that consciousness could also be shifting. Two proposals earlier than Congress, the ICBM (Invest in Cures Before Missiles) Act (S.082 and HR.2227), and the No First Use Act (S.272), start to handle alternate options to nuclear weapons. The UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons is one other step.
Please contemplate writing to Rep. John Katko, Sen. Charles Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in assist of the ICBM Act.
My imaginative and prescient is that the USA of America, will lead the world “Again From the Brink” of nuclear destruction, and within the course of re-plant seeds for rising a safer and extra simply world.
By no means once more Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
